cause if i don't i have been billed!!

surely if this is an r2 release and as i live in the uk, the duty has already been included within the price?!

its a bloomin charge of 9 quid, i would have been better off buyin it down the high street

can someone please advise me PLEASE

not quite sure how relevant this is to you, but the last r2 disk i got from play had "UK duty paid" printed on the address label.

Not sure about cd-wow tho'. Wouldn't have thought you'd have to pay it.

The only thing i could think of, was that it was a region 4/2 disc. But it doesnt look like it is.

Doesn't matter what's in the parcel. Your goods were shipped from Hong Kong, so it's an import. That's all customs care about. If the price you paid was more than £17.99 then you are eligible for duty.

Can't say I've ever personally been hit with customs charges from CD-WOW or Play yet. But then it's pot luck and I try to keep my orders within the £17.99 limit.

I know just how you feel as I've been buying from CD-WOW for a long time and never been hit for customs charges before today.
I bought "Splinter Cell" for the X-BOX for £31 and have just had to make a 10 mile round trip to the local sorting office to pay a customs charge of £9.44 when I could have bought the same game for £35 in my local game shop.

You are looking at this the wrong way ... consider the amount that you have saved every time you have not been charged. Adopt a sensible approach and avoid importing bulky items that are likely to attract attention or at least don't import them from outside the EU.

Well in the short time it took me to type out my first email I have had a response from CD-WOW regarding the customs charges.
They have apologised and have refunded me the customs charges.
You really can't say fairer that that.

Just got Band of Brothers from CD Wow - Stickered up with a customs charge! - first time I have been caught.

- Dopey postman forced it through the letterbox any way so no charge!!!!

The postman always make a hash of our deliveries - never gets recorded items signed for - delivers to wrong address's etc.

Good job I live in a small village with excellent neighbours - we end up exchanging post in the village pub!!

Cheers

:) :) :)

just an update guys as with DM1972 who posted above, cd-wow got in touch with me and have now offered me a refund on the customs charge. they apoligised and said that they are having difficulties but are trying to resolve this matter

so i'm now happy with the situation. will continue to shop with them, but will think twice about ordering large items for a bit to see what happens

I just got the Die Hard Trilogy ultimate box set (R1) from CDWOW (for £30), and had to pay almost £10 in customs.

Would i be able to get this back from CDWOW?
Would they just give me the £10 to spend on the site?

I am only asking as the people above seem to have gotten theirs back.

Doubt it mate i take it die hard was region1, whereas the original post was talking about region 2.
