I currently listen to CD's using my DVD player, if I were to purchase a seperate CD player for around £100 would I notice a significant increase in audio quality?

Depends on your current DVD player, if you have spent a considerable amount on it then its unlikely you would notice a significant improvement.

A good £100 CD player (Sony 570 or similar) will probably beat (when playing CDs) most DVD players upto around £400 ... a good £200 CD player (NAD C521i or similar) will probably beat most DVD players upto £750. Now weather the difference is significant will depend on your amplification and speakers of course and also if your listening in 2-channel or Pro Logic / DTS Neo:6.

I added a Marantz CD4000 to my setup (Tosh 520E DVD player) and I can't say I notice any difference in sound quality. I tend to use the digital output rather than the analogue so perhaps that makes a difference.

I don't regret the purchase though. The player is far quieter and faster in operation than my DVD player for CDs and the functionaly is greater and more easily accesible.
