    Hi guys,
I have an intense love for music.
Of late am becoming increasingly unhappy with the sound of my DVD player, which while really good with pictures and movies, sounds.....well...flat and uninteresting with music. :thumbsdow
So am looking for a CDP to be connected with my Yamaha RX-V2500 receiver (which I got because its said to be really good with music in pure direct mode).
I hope getting a separate CD player will improve on the sound of music. I do not think its worth getting a CDP if the improvement in sound is only minimal. I want the difference to be incredibly noticeable. And I mean night and day kind of difference!! ;)
Am mainly looking for warmth, immence clarity and a wide soundstage.
BTW, speakers I will be using are the Sony SS-MF650H floorstanders.
Please advice. Will the difference be worth it?
What CDPs do you think I should at?
    Budget: About 200 dollars.
    Cheers

    Guys, help me out please!

Unfortunately I usually buy electronics when I travel and so I don't really have the chance to test them well.

I have been looking at a few CD players.

    Nad C521BEE and 542
    Marantz CD5400

Am not sure if the Nad 542 is within my budget.

I was hoping the Yamaha RX-V2500 will be as good as a stereo amplifier in Pure Direct Mode which is said to bypass any processing.

    Your advise is eagerly awaited!

I run a NAD C521BEE with my Yamaha HTR-5540RDS (essentially, a silver version of the RX-V430). Sound is warm, detailed, with good, punchy bass. Not sure if your Sony speakers are bright or not, but I found the Marantz to be too bright and harsh - sounding for my liking (I use Mission speakers with my Yamaha. The Marantz is very well constructed and detailed though. Best advice is to audition a few and see which one you like best.

I think I will probably stick with either of the Nads.

    You've been a great help.

    Cheers
