CD Player Upgrade (from Rotel)

For CD replay, my kit currently consists of Rotel RCD1070 cdp, Harman Kardon AVR8500 receiver and Monitor Audio GR20 floorstanders. I would like to upgrade the cdp and have about £1k to spend. My local hifi chappie has suggested the Exposure 2010S and the Arcam CD192.

On the basis that a dac is not an option (WAF-'Not another box!'), what are the opinions on these two and any others I should include in listening tests?

Musical tastes vary (Katie Melua, KT Tunstall to Brian Adams, ELO) depending upon the mood I'm in.

FYI a NOS DAC is so small that you can hide it behind your CDP.

Assuming you do insist on a replacement CDP, I'd suggest looking at a s/h Linn Ikemi or Meridian unit.
