Hi there, Ive just bought myself a 1999 Vauxhall Corsa. I want to replace the rubbish looking blaupunkt tape deck in there with a cd player, but I see that there is a dash display showing the radio station you are on. Will this stop working if I put any cd player in? If so can anyone recommend a cd player that will work with this display? Cheers!

Kenwood do units that work with the original Vauxhall display, not sure of any any up to date model numbers though..

As you probably know, you can buy a replacement fascia unit to allow the fitting of a standard DIN unit. I replaced the factory fit cassette player in the wife's Corsa (2001) with a Sony head unit. You lose the radio/track info from the car's display but you have it on the head unit instead. You will retain date/time function though.

The point I was making to abrown666 is that although it is possible to retain the radio/track display with the connects2 device you have suggested, it isn't actually necessary.

My missus has a Sony CDX MP40 MP3 single disc unit in a 99 corsa, dead easy replacement no adapters needed (she decided to do without display as lead was £40 and she doesnt have steering controls). CDX5700 is a nice unit see www.mcs-direct.co.uk excellent service and prices (check that model has OEM display option MP40 did, have a search as i researched this alot at the time. use corsa and MP3 as search options all you ever need to know, IIRC KEnwood and Sony lower models have OEM display options, not many others sub £500 do.

    http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk/acatalog/sony_cd_tuner_CDXF5700.html

    £149.95 2 year warranty (£10 shipping)
MP3 in car is a really nice idea 14+ albums on a CDR!!! also plays CDRW and displays artist data etc!

Need a sony brochure to check display option, MP40 had it, try local dealer or call MCS, they were very helpful when i rang.
