I'm trying to decide whether it is worth spending £100 on a discounted CD player ie the SONY CDPXB740 or just use my Tosh SD100e for CD playback. Can anyone give an indication of what level of CD player you would need to purchase before you start seeing a noticeable difference. Surely the CD playback on budget DVD's is only comparable with the very cheapest CD players ?

I'd rather not spend money unecessarily but if the difference is very noticeable then I feel it's worth it.

    Mike.

    Hi

It depends on the DVD player. My Toshiba 210E is comparable with both my Yamaha CDC775 and Denon 1450AR when connected via Coaxial to my amp.

Connected by analog you notice slight differences between all three, but they are only slight. They ALL sound good but the Denon has the slight edge.

The Toshiba´s cd playback is pretty good for a budget player.

    cheers
