    :lease:

Can anyone recommend some software to rip CD's to MP3?

I've down loaded loads of freeware but a lot of them just don't work on my PC. I got one working called "CD to WAV and MP3 Ripper version 2" but it takes so long ripping a single song I've given up. Longer that the track (is that normal?)

Also, I had a CD carry case with a load of my favourite CD's in (and my daughters). I've lost the case with all the CD's in  but I've got my favourite tracks on minidisc. I've got the cases but not the discs  Does anyone know of any software I can use to convert ATRAC3 to MP3?

I don't mind buying a CD ripper if it is high quality. The one's I can remember I've tried are:

    BoncEnc
    FreeRip
    AudioGrabber

Try http://www.exactaudiocopy.de it's one of the better ones. Don't worry about buying one just yet, you may not get better than some of the freeware or shareware just because you pay for it.

EAC is about the best and most versatile ripper I've found, and Audiograbber is also worth a look.

Decent enough quality as MP3 goes, and easy to use.

I thought the GUI for audioripper was pretty good, can't get it to work though. I keep getting a ASPI error. I've tried using the direct win2000 calls and installing a ASPI manager and using that, but no luck. I've even installed a ASPI manager checker and that reported the ASPI could successfully recognise my CD drive, which is a TEAC CD-224E 3.7C.

I'll try the one you have recommended Steve. Thanks.

iTunes is a free download. You can choose various formats and I doubt that quality will be an issue.

Can't help with MD Atrac but MD players will output CD-standard digital, so you need a means of getting that into your computer.
