After my girlfriend played a cd in the p.c and removed the cd she noticed that a video had tried to kick start itself from the disc (as a hidden extra) and was now asking for the cd to be re-entered into the cd drive. As she wasnt interested in watching the video she declined the offer. Now the cd drive fails to read any audio cd , it was fine until the video incident so how can she get the cd drive to recoginse audio tracks ?

Does the driver software need to be re-installed or is the drive kaput ?

    Cheers for any help

some crappy software has installed itself from the CD, some of the record labels put stuff on their CDs that does this.

have a loo in add/remove programs for any new player software that has installed recently, there may be mention of it somewhere in the CD case.
