Question CCTV web viewing

Hello,

A friend of mine has asked for some help in sorting out his CCTV - Not an area that I know too much about.

He wants to be able to access the information on his iphone and or the web.

He has a 4 camera system, with BNC connectors, leading to a fairly generic looking DVR box. The box has a wired network connection and a monitor attached.

Any quick pointers as to how to get it viewed - Do the boxes need specific application or are there generic ones?

Generally in these scenarios, the DVR should have the option to set the ports etc on which it should broadcast the CCTV signal. Then in their router, set the firewall to pass the connection from the Internet to this IP/port. There are various free apps that you can download to view the CCTV on the phone. This is all dependent on which CCTV system he has.
