Got this on DVD in the Xmas sales, I'd forgotten just how good it is. Hasn't aged a bit in my opinion. Good commentary too.

excellent film. Orson Welles cracks me up:laugh: :smashin:

Great film for a great book.

Soderbergh commentary with Mike Nicholls is probably one of my favourites too.

I too love this movie. I know it gets bad press sometimes. But having never read the book, I like it for what it is as a film.

i love this movie too. BUT I aint got a clue what the bloody thing is all about. It loses me from scene 1.

That's sorta the point: it's trying to express the insanity (and inanity) of war and how, if viewed slightly askance, how ridiculous we are as a species. It does this by a sort of comic-surreal-incoherence (before getting quite dark near the end).

The book jumps around all over the place as well.

I've always thought this was a great film and does a near-impossible job of filming a nearly quite unfilmable book. Alan Arkin is superb in this (as he is in Wait Until Dark: i've always thought he was a very underrated actor).
