When linking 2 xboxes together, does the Cat5 cable have to be in one piece, or can it be patched (ie, from each xbox to a patch panel, and then patch the 2 sockets together)?

    Thanks

The cable has to be a crossover type, unless you have got a router/hub that will do it for you. It doesn't have to be one piece of cable, as long as the send/receive is swapped over (if I remember correctly)

A cross over is needed. :)

Excellent, cheers for the quick responses. I'm going to patch the cables from around the house tomorrow, and it's nice to know I don't have use a continuous wire - means I can put the 2nd xbox in any room. I just need 1 cross over patch cable.
