I really want to use Cat 5 speaker cables the only reason i never bought it was the self build, well i now know a company who can supply Cat 5 ready made, the only question i have is the spec of cable needed can anybody help i.e should the cable be shielded or unshielded ?
    Thank you :smashin:

Paul FAQ at top of the page plenty of reading for you.

Quite simply Maplins code VB20W. Read the spec of that stuff and find a similar cable spec from elsewhere cheaper if you can, ie I think TLC supply as well.

    Good luck.

Needs to be unshielded and some people prefer solid core conductors.

There are lots of other types of speaker cable you can construct yourself, Cat5 derived speaker cable is just one of many possible cable geometries available. :)
