Thanks Cas, been looking forward to this one, a little disappointing but expected based on what I had read from the US releases, won't stop me picking them up though!

Yes,another great write-up,thank you Cas!
If only this hadn’t been shot in the thick of the 2K DI culture! :thumbsdow

Thanks Cas. Feels like I'm doing just as well staying with my Blu Ray version with my LG doing a little upscaling :)

Awesome review. Wish it had atmos. Makes me want to sell my deluxe edition and get the 4K version

Thanks for the review Cas.
Still have a soft spot for this one.

Skyfall will hopefully look gorgeous (I think it may be, but hoping it's a 4k DI) and let us appreciate Mr Deakins beautiful lighting/camera work.

Skyfall and Spectre (sounds like a double act!) are both 4K DIs.

Many thanks for the review Cas :)

I will never forget that opening sequence and how it ends
I remember thinking "Well this is definitely not the old Bond" :D

As a massive Bond fan, this is second only to Majesty's for me. Such a shame that all of Craig's following efforts have been so poor. Saw this again recently and the Blu could do with some improvement so may check this out.

Not a massive Bond fan but l couldn’t resist picking up the DG collection import from America for £35 delivered. Hopefully these will be an uptick from the iTunes 4K versions. Great review Cas.

Fantastic film not only best bond movie but a great film full stop. What a shame used a different director/editor for the follow up. Only if Stuart Baird had remained instead of the two hacks who edited Quantum Of Solace.

I think there's a good film buried beneath that horrible edit of QoS.

Shot on film so I guess it could have still had a true 4K release.

Pity Sony didn't have the reigns on this release.

The only DC Bond film I would be interested in owning (prob top 5 Bond film) but I was hoping for a AAA transfer.

Thanks Cas. From what I have read about the new 4K Bond releases, I'm not too bothered about picking them up in all honesty!

Skyfall is one of the best looking 4K releases of the year... working on that one atm. But, as a package, you could do worse than wait for the actual 4K Daniel Craig collection, considering the guy isn't done yet in the role!

So are they doing the whole lot from Dr No with HDR transfers?

Well all pre-Craig Bonds have had 4K remasters done so it really is just a matter of time. But as I mentioned, this set is likely just a promo to test the waters and see how much interest there is in the whole set. Because a Bond 50-esque collection in 4K would have a hefty price tag.

I've seen the 4k stuff on iTunes but after spending a chunk on the Blu ray collection I didn't want to double dip. And it's always the HDR that is the real upgrade. I think some of the Connery's could look great. Thunderball springs to mind.

My thoughts exactly. Such a shame all of Craig's subsequent Bond films were awful. I guess choice of directors has consequences.

love ya'man but yesterday you were telling us Carlito's Way is a better film than Scarface and now today you are telling us blondie is the the best Bond ever? You havin' a laugh? :)

Glad to hear it, the Shanghai fight with those neon colours and inky blacks must look gorgeous, and then the boat entry in Macau, even moody Scotland, I’ll be buying this one for sure.

I wish (and we never will), but I wish they brought out boxsets by cinematographers, the Deakins collection, I’d pay top dollar!

Ah I know, the truth hurts.

But what I said about Craig was that his was the definitive Bond, i.e. the closest to a definitive incarnation of Fleming's character.

The Best Bond ever? That's surely personal preference. Personally, I can see the Dalton argument but he simply didn't have enough movies to fully judge by, something which applies even more clearly in Lazenby's case. Brosnan did a masterful job at being the best of both worlds (Connery and Moore) but was unsurprisingly master of none as a result (and... DAD). And Connery may be everybody's top choice but I grew up with Moore, and always believed that his lighter way of dealing with the insanely dangerous situations he was put in was the only possible way to avoid having a heart attack at 40 (and still play the role at 80). Where Connery would grit his teeth at the most ludicrous situation, Moore would always have a gag, never better than simply grinning back at an assassin who has just revealed that he has metal teeth, or patting his pockets looking for a pencil when he's being left on a pit of crocs as has been told that's one of only two ways to kill them. The other being, to pull out all his teeth...

Craig? Well before Spectre, his Bond was at least grounded, and never more so than in Casino Royale.

Can't help you with Carlito. It's just better. Them's the facts. ;)

Had to stick my oar in having read the article headline. Craig is possibly the worst bond of the bunch, even timothy dalton was more suited to the role. I can’t wait until they replace him.
Grew up loving connery and moore but brosnan was awesome in the role. Craig is neither good looking or charming, eurobond. This isn’t a knock against the quality of the films just craig in the role.

Oh and Carlitos way is better than scarface. 😜

Lazenby is easily the worst Bond and I have never understood the recent love for On Her Majesty's Skiing Service!
