Whats the betting its gets put in a "Limited Edition" PS3 Launch pack.

Good one for BD - however the whole film stinks of Sony -I for one am not a fan of the level of product placement that has taken place in this film...

Don't get me wrong I am not a Sony hater (I mean *** they are just another company why hate them for their endless pursuit of profit - they are no different to others) - I just dislike what they have done.

Anyway, this should be a big hitter for BD...

All movies are like that, they only make movies because of one reason and that's to milk money out of the customers.

I don't really care and it's just part of the game.

No - ALL movies are not like that... I am not naieve but I do think the level of product placement in casino royale was "above the norm" - Sony did a masterful job and will no doubt reap the reward from people who think having bonds gadgets is cool

Sony's placement was blatant... but not as bad as the OTT plug for Omega :)

We'll have to start calling you nostradamus for predicting this one.....

Next you'll be telling us Eragon and Deja Vu are coming to BD too.

Will UK BD owners be watching this March on their Region B players? Don't you just love region encoding :)

I'd imagine so, DVDTimes posted the UK release date as 19/03/2007 :smashin:

I would amazed if anyone thought this was NOT coming to the release schedule sooner rather than later, certainly this was what happened in the early days of DVD.

I doubt this will be region encoded as it doesn't effect the cinema release date (been and gone) which is Sony's official line on region encoding, so another region free disc - yay

Wow! Next you'll be foreseeing the release of Spider-Man 3 on Blu-Ray at the end of 2007... ;)

By the way, there's an additional "e" in the title of Casino Royale, unless this is a film about a casino run by the Queen and rather than the latest (and, IMO, best) Bond film. :D

For the sake of those who enjoyed the film but are lumbered with Region B players I'd hope so, seeing as the UK version of Casino Royale was censored.

Buying imported Region A discs from the U.S is the best you can do as the you have a wider choice and probably better authored discs.

Great news for BR buyers indeed, a good movie and also a new release. :smashin:

I agree, I'm not a big fan of product placement, ads are bad enough, when the actual movie it's self starts to become comprimised by the Ads though, I think it's a bad sign.

Not exactly a new thing though, I probably first heard of Aston Martin via bond films...

Still a good plus for BR though.

On a slightly different point, I didnt want to start a new thread just for this, and it is a little OT, but then all these posts seem to go OT very quickly. :D

I noticed that both the Jan 07 editions of Stuff Magasine and What HI-FI S&V have the 2 page cardboard Toshiba HD-DVD adverts inside, and a couple of Regza screens adds thrown in. It looks like the Tosh marketing campaign is well and truley starting too.

07 should be good fun, perhaps we'll be in for some treats as the battle rages? :smashin:

:rotfl: You have to be joking - Sony applied regional coding to Black Hawk Down! If they need to protect an old title like that then do you honestly think they won't protect the latest blockbuster?

I thought the MPAA cut Casino Royale too, or am I misinformed?

I've certainly heard nothing to suggest that, no. The MPAA passed it without any problems to the best of my knowledge. The BBFC just requested some snips here and there to one scene (no prizes for guessing which) in order for it to gain a 12a certificate and not a 15.

And as long as HD-DVD doesn't have region coding more studios won't support the format.

In the short to medium term that is a reasonable price IMHO. The range of studio coverage is decent enough - especially as the likes of Studio Canal, Pathe and Weinstein will offer otherwise BluRay exclusive titles.

Hi Rasczak,

perhaps I've misunderstood your post, but Studio Canal are planning multiple HD-DVD releases:

Can't find anything on Studio Canal's website, but based on above links they do appear to be supporting HD-DVD

I can't recall the web article I saw a couple of months ago, but suggestion was that due to the different method of movie distribution in EU there's the possibility of seeing US Bluray only releases being released by a European distributor on HD-DVD and likewise a US HD-DVD only release being available in Bluray in Europe.

I've no preference for either formats at present. Guess I'm hoping/wishing for the above scenario so that both camps get a decent selection of titles during 2007/2008.

Appreciate that this thread relates to Casino Royal & Sony owns the distribution rights, so fat chance of seeing this one on HD-DVD:rotfl:

Sorry for taking this thread off topic.

Indeed - Studio Canal are a HD DVD exclusive studio. Their European portfolio of films includes the rights to release many films here that are US BluRay exclusives: Stargate, Terminator 2, Rambo trilogy etc etc.

So whilst BluRay does have more US studio support - it's not quite as one sided as everyone seems to think. This was what I was implying in my post.
