    Help!

I have a Panasonic NV-GS50 and a PC running XP Pro.

Connecting using the USB Cable supplied I can get my still photos off the camera, but I cannot get the supplied software (or Windows Movie Maker) to capture the video off the tape.

What am I doing wrong? do I need a firewire card or a video capture card instead?

    All help appreicated

USB is ok for still transfer & wecam use.

If you want to transfer full res video though you need firewire.

Please read the many many posts in this forum regarding exactly this point - to capture good quality video from your camera to your PC you MUST use a firewire cable - Some people may tell you they use USB but even if you can get the transfer to work your PC will not control the camera during transfer as it will with firewire and you will have various problems.

If your PC does not have a firewire card thay come quite cheap and complete with the necessary cable

Shouldn't matter , any generic one. If you look at PC component suppliers like dabs.com or ebuyer you should be able to get one for about £15-£20 with cable included.
