"offered up with all of the inherent technical limitations of a 2K Digital Intermediate"

Why do you guys continue with this thought process? Some of the best 4K's out there are from a 2K DI. You're continuing an outdated "theory" that's simply not true.

Cheers for the review Cas, look forward to receiving my copies in the next day or so. Winter Soldier definitely was a game changer for the MCU.

One thing though - do you have to continue with this whole "Atmouse" thing in the reviews? If the Atmos soundtrack is lacking then it should rightly be mentioned, but to coin this phrase within your reviews just because a select minority started doing it in the threads doesn't mean that it should make it's way in there as well.

      Just come constructive criticism.

Thanks for the review Cas. Just checked my Blu Ray & iTunes collection, & we must have rented when we watched it, so I don't have this one; a perfect excuse to pick this up :)

      EDIT: Just looking around my usual German sites;
(Possibly) interesting fact: Here it was called "The Return of the First Avenger"

Another top notch review and another 4K disc to add to the collection.
One of the best Marvel films imo.

This and Thor Ragnorak are by far my favourite Marvel movies so far. Might pick up this version.

My favourite Super hero film bar none (yes TDK, even you).

The tension during Fury's car chase is incredible.

Because as much as I agree with your last statement, his statement is actually correct. There are "inherent technical limitations" to having a 2K DI but for the most part the limited extra resolution is more than outweighed by the extra detail revealed by the better contrast and colour management of HDR/WCG. It's only when you put it side by side with the best 4K DI prints that you can notice the advantages of a 4K DI.

I seen a couple of reviews that say it's very good but not necessarily great mainly because of the stylistic choices as mentioned in this review. I will reserve judgement as mine is arriving today.

Cheers for another passionately invested review.
This film surprised with how it actually moved me above being just another superhero venture. Definitely one to beat for Marvel.

Again I don't see the problem with this. Disney produced Atmos tracks not worthy of the material being watched. For me it began to get better with the 3 4k Avengers films. Let's hope they keep it up.

Are we likely to eventually see Dolby Vision (or HDR10+ for that matter) enhanced releases of these films, given that some of the Disney MCU 4K releases already do so (i.e: Black Panther), or is there some technical limitation that might prevent this?

Where did you see me disagree?

All I said was that this latest fad to call an Atmos track an "Atmouse" one in the reviews isn't very professional IMO.

Didn't say you disagreed. I just said I don't see the problem with describing their previous sub-par attempts as Atmouse :)

      Thanks Cas,

Watched Avengers Assemble 4K disc on Friday and was impressed at the detail. However it was so good that I noticed the green screen work in a few scenes!

Great review Cas , still one of the best ( for me ) MCU films to date . So reading the AV quality matches the film makes this a must :smashin:. Cheers.

      Ach! Decisions, decisions...

No sign of Winter Soldier imports on Zavvi. Some elsewhere but total inc. shipping always costs around €35,00
I do want a copy of this Movie, but that's more than I'd like to pay

AND now Zavvi have the Captain America Trilogy 4K Boxset for €47,99.

BUT I have the other two on Blu-ray already; my B7 does do great upscaling on decent Blu-rays, and I don't think I'll gain anything special from the Audio upgrade, as most here don't seem to think it's that much of an improvement Audio-wise going to the 4K

      Hmmm......

I ordered the 4K 3-Movie Collection from Zoom yesterday for around €42 delivered. If you then sell your old blu-rays of the other two...

I was in the same boat, but with Civil War. I figured the single release will be £25 on its own, so for an extra Ayrton, I'm getting 2 films I've already seen, but are worth a rewatch
