Took delivery of my Canton CD100 fronts and CD50 centre today. Thought I'd give them a quick whirl and overall I am very pleased indeed. They are beautifully crafted and even the missus asked me when will I be getting another pair for the surrounds so they all match ! I currently have the Tannoy FX 5.1 with an extra speaker for 6.1 so I will keep the surrounds and the Sub for now. The FX package was pretty good but I always thought the centre lacked something... depth? presence? Not sure of the right word to use. Anyway, I am running things from a Yamaha 1500 and I haven't really readjusted the settings yet to accomodate the Cantons, besides lowering the LFE crossover. Movies The difference is immense, even at low volumes (want to run the speakers in). The sound seemed to immerse the room considerably more and the front left and right channels were far more defined. The centre speaker was a huge improvement with clearer dialogue (to my ears anyway) Music Not *quite* so amazing as yet. The Tannoys were a joke with Pure Direct - more like Tinny FX 5.1 The Cantons were definitely better but the lack of bass was still noticeable. In straight mode (with sub) things sounded pretty good but I need to do some tweaking. Speaking of tweaking, would they qualify as "Large" fronts? And should the CD50 be classed as "large" centre? To be honest it's probably a 90/10 split in favour of movie/tv use but if I can get the music side sweet then that will change Got the speakers from Tenspot with UPS COD.
