I have a Canton CD-1 System and having receieved it earlier than usual, I need to get my ass into gear to get some speaker stands! :) I took out one of the Satellites today to test the speakers in "Comet", "Currys" but they didnt fit this speaker. Which leads me to think that perhaps I need the specialist speaker stand which is the Canton LS90.
Has anyone here got this stand? If so, could you possibly confirm the diameter of the base? Im really after the smallest diameter speaker stand thats out there because space is an issue.
Does anyone know if any other speaker stand would do the job?

or...have any of you guys just attached the speaker via some Blue Tac? For instance theres a great speaker stand at Ikea with 4 rods but these are intended to be screwed in.......however, my speakers are only small so if I attach them via Bluetac it should be alright? After all, theres no bass coming from them)

Sorry to change the train of the thread, but this maybe a problem I will face in the very near future. What do you think of the Cantons? I really like the look of them and specs look good. However, with the lack of dealers in the UK makes auditioning difficult. I'm no audiophile and this would be my first 5.1 setup. There was diuscussion in a previous thread of them sounding a little bright, how are you finding this? What about the sub?

Where did you purchase your set from in the end, did you go German :D ?

    Thanks for the advice.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

Yeah, I got them from meridirian.de (the link is in the thread "currently investigating some good speakers)
Iv now got them placed around the tv on the stands (highly recommend them, looks neat and tidy now)
Unfortunately I havent heard them yet but like you, this will be my first 5.1 system and the way I see it is for the past year iv been using mono, before that I was using JVC 3D-Phonic and when a lot of things were happening at once the sound would just go down due to all the sound it was trying to get out.
Basically Iv never heard a 5.1 system before and so any system would probably sound good to me. Sure its a risk not having it demo'd, after all, everyones ears and perceptions are different. However when people and magazines are constantly saying that something is worth buying....and if you can get it for £200 cheaper by shopping online id go for it!
My outline was I wanted a 5.1 system that was not obtrusive, didnt have a fancy design which made it look futuristic...therefore bringing attention to itself and had decent sound. It appears I did parts 1 and 2 but having decent sound? if rumours are to be believed, it should have great sound!
One local ship tried to sell me the 5cx for £200. THe CD1 is better than this and i got it for the same price!

Edit: when i have it set up (sunday) i'l post my opinions on it. What id do then is tot up everything to see if its worth getting....but if you do get it and you dont like it then sell it to someone in this country...and you'l still make a profit of £100 even if you sell it for 100 pound less than you can get it in this country.

Did you mean the AD100-s stands? Look great, but are they pricey?

Yep, the 100's are much more pleasant on the eye and I suspect the perform more admirably as well. Do you know a good supplier? ;)

Steve what is your opinion on the CD1 set up now (i presume you have had it set up a while now)?
As i am thinking of getting this set NOW or saving for the CD100 Floor standing + CD50 Centre.

Anyone have any thoughts on ceiling mounting the CD10's? I know the c70's are the in ceiling but I would like to mount the cd10's (matches my decor)

They have no rear thread hole in them.. and Im not sure what the 6 screws in the back are actually doing. Any thoughts?

    Thanks
    Shaggy
