Just recently finished installing MCE on my Dell GX260.

Slight panic with the graphics card, for which I eventually chose an ATI Radeon Powercolor 9250 256MB. On starting MCE, it said it didn't support the card. But I d/l'ed the latest drivers from ATI and all was well.

Installed the Black Gold MCE, which was a scrappy sort of setup. Progress boxes appear, complete and vanish, but no clear Finished message.

MCE obviously sees the BG because it successfully tunes in the stations.

When I try to watch TV, I get an error message:

Decoder Error. The video decoder has either malfunctioned or is not installed. Please reatart Media Center and/or the computer.

    Restarting doesn't help.

What is the video decoder? Is that something from Black Gold or part of MCE?

    Help!

You need a decoder to actually see any pictures - TV, DVDs or movies.

Codec of choice is the Nvidia, available to buy from www.Nvidia.com or on a 30 day trial.

Ahh! Yes! You can tell I'm new at this part of it...

Have now installed Cyberlink PowerDVD 6, which at £1.99 from Scan, semed to cheap to pass on.

Now I have TV pictures :)

    TVM.
