Question Can't select source on UN58MU6100FXZA

Hello,
I'm trying to help a friend troubleshoot his Samsung TV. I hooked up a DVD player to his TV yesterday (tried different HDM ports) and I'm unable to get the 'Source' menu to come up using the remote. There are no physical buttons on the TV to select the source.
Someone suggested holding down the 'power' button on the remote for 30 seconds for a reset, but that didn't help. Every other button on the Samsung remote seems to work, but the 'Source'.
I have not gone into the menu/setup to reset the TV to factory defaults - wanted to try here first.
Also wanted to note - The TV has no access to internet and the firmware has not been updated since it was purchased.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Are you able to try the remote on another Samsung TV to see if the source button works?
Quite often one remote will operate other models of the same brand.
At least this would rule out the remote as being faulty, do you know if the remote has been dropped? A hairline crack can develop on the circuit board under the buttons if it's been dropped.
