Can't play the ps3 on my benq g2400wd monitor at a resolution higher than 480p

And it's killing me because I was about to start playing mgs4...

Basically the ps3 works through hdmi but only at a resolution of 480p. Anything higher and a flashing blue background appears or it says out of range. The silly thing is that I can play from my xbox 360 at any resolution I want...

I tried finding firmware drivers for this model but I couldn't find any..

Anyone have a clue?
