Cant get sound out of my speakers

Hi guys,

Been out and spent some money today and am getting because i cant get the speakers to work.

I bought a 50" samsung plasma and the samsung HT-TZ212. Have connected it all up as shown in the manual but cant get the speakers to pick up the sound from the tv. It works fine with dvd but nothing from the tv. I have a monster hdmi cable connected to both but still no sound.

Do i need anything else to connect it. The guy in the shop said this was all i needed but do i need to buy an optical cable to?

HDMI from the 212 is 'out' to the TV, therfore you will need a connection from the TV either phono (red/white) or optical
