 My Sharp manual says that my RGB input has sync on green so I purchased a scart to RGsB adaptor (3 phono) for my Panasonic Sky box. All I get is a black screen. (A blue screen indicates no input at all)

The Sharp has RGBHV phonos on it. Does anybody know how to get this to work. I was wandering whether the four phono scart adaptor might work. This has RGB plus composite (sync) on it. This way I would then need to run another lead to the pj. Then I would connect to the RGB and H terminals.

Perhaps the Panasonic doesn't output the sync feed on the G lead but is wired for the separate sync on the fourth phono. I will borrow an adaptor later to try it out but if anybody has any info on this I would appreciate their feedback,

    Thanks,

    Graham

i thought that the sky output RGB bad the separate composite sync.... so first you need to know whether the sharp can accept that and then you need a cable t do it :)

Tried the 4 phono RGB composite sync scart adaptor, still doesn't work. Thinking about getting a Panasonic 55 DVD recorder and connect Sky through that

You have to use a transcoder for it to work! adaptor your using will not work.

A scart TO four phonos wired for R, G, B and Composite sync will work. You must ensure that your Sky Box is set to "RGB" in the "video settings" menu and that you have used the scart socket on the STB labelled TV. In the projector setup menu you need to select "RGB" for "Signal Type" in the "Options" menu and that the yeallow (or black) phono representing composite sync is attached to the plug on your projector labelled "HD/C Sync"

Also remember that scart to 4 phono is not the same as four phono to scart - the composite sync is directional.

    Hi Liam,

Thanks for your reply. Everything you suggested has already been tried. I gather that RGB and component use the same pins and are not directional. The composite (sync) terminal is as you say directional. However, the one that I used had an in/out switch built in to it.

It was time to replace my aging Panasonic S-VHS video so I went ahead and purchased a DMR-E55 DVD recorder. I have connected the sat box to that via RGB and then on to the pj via component.

Thanks to all for your replies

    Graham

Did that work? Sending RGB to the DVDr then YUV out??? Still quite surprised that a direct RGB+sync wasn't having any of it. Oh well, as long as you're up and running now :)
