Can't find DVD-RWs compatible with old Sony Handycam

I have an old Sony handycam (DCR-DVD 202E PAL). New DVDs fit OK - the mini 8cm type. But all the new ones I put in, after formatting them, result in a "data error" message.

Is there any way of resolving this and being able to get new DVD-RWs working with the old camera?

Could be the laser is failing in such old hardware, you could try DVD+RW 8cm as well in case its something to do with DVD-RW discs your using.

Hi - you are "Formatting" in the camcorder? - that should be the way to do it IMHO.
Unfortunately "Data Error" is a useless comment, without the User Guide and an Error No. - .
