cant change tone with ipod dock?!?

hi guys

i connected the onkyo ipod dock to my onkyo 506 amp and im finding that when i want to change the tone controls it says 'not available'?!?!

any ideas why? im using the mission m cubes (no sub) with the amp and there is hardly any bass coming through.

please help!
