Canon XL1S

At the moment I am using a Canon MV500i, mainly for wildlife and wish to upgrade to an XL1S. The problem with the 500i is that is shuts down automatically after a while. By the time it whires, gurgles and groans back into action, the shot has been missed.
Does the XL1S shut down?

Unlike the XL1, the Canon XL1S includes a feature that lets users disengage the automatic shut off, called Power Save. Opening the menu to select Power Save and then VCR Stop activates this feature. The XL1S will separate the tape from the recording head drum after about five minutes, but maintain power to all camera settings and video out feeds. By pressing the Record/Pause button, the tape is repositioned for recording in approximately three seconds.
