A few facts and details here - I wonder if it will be better received than the S1 ?

Hmmm, like the looks of this as a stop gap between my A80 and a DSLR....

Edit: However, no mention of sensor size - hopefully something decent to give decent(ish) high ISO performance and also a downer is the change to SD from CF - makes all my CF capacity pretty redundent if I went down that route.

No not megapixels, physical size - quite important when it comes to image quality.

Looking at dpreview it's a 1/2.5" - that's not as good as the A80's 1/1.8" so I'll not be buying this.

IMO any non dslr id going to be prone to noise at ISO200 & above. I'm sure the A80 will be pretty noisy at those levels as well.

It is - but not as much as the S2 is likely to be

One of the key reasons the DSLR's perform so much better at higher ISO's is the larger sensor.

As Seany has mentioned it has the Digic 2 chip, which cuts down on noise over the older chip. I have noticed a small improvement on my 350D form my old 300D, which also had a larger (physical size) sensor.

It maybe a good camera to take to rock concerts ect, with that 12x optical zoom (36 – 432mm f/2.7-f.3.5). I'm off to see U2 on the 29th anyone have one to lend me. :D I doubt they will let me in with my 350D and my mates EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS, they my think I'm carrying a different sort of Canon. :D
