Hello, I want to purchase my first camcorder. I want to be able to do the old cinematic effect whereby a small depth of field allows me to pull focus from a person in the foreground to a building in the background.

To do this I need to have manual control over both the apature/iris (to reduce the depth of field) and the shutter speed (to compensate for the increase in light entering the cam due to the opened-up iris).

I like the sound of Canon's MVX 150i, but can't get a definative answer by reading mags and asking in shops, whether the manual exposure control on the cam allows manual control of both the iris and the shutter speed.

If any knowledable person could answer this please let me know

    Thanks.
