Canon MV890 advice needed

Hi

I just got a good deal on an MV890 but after I clicked buy I realised that I hadn't researched how I will download the tapes to my laptop for editing.

I dont think my pc has a firewire input, only USB which I dont think the MV offers. So how will I be able to DL? (sorry this is all new to me).

I do have a Panny HDD/DVR so I guess I'll always be able to go that way.

Also, any tips on where to buy some tapes at a good price. Amazon have run out of the buy 10 sonys deal.

Sorry but I've just discovered that my PC does have an extra USB port on the back which has a firwire symbol next to it!

Does Firewire use the same connectors as USB?

edit: no just checked device mng I dont have firewire.

Firewire connectors are different. The 6 pin ones which tend to be on desktop PCs are similar shape to the standard USB, but "fatter".
