    Now, this looks interesting:

I was hankering after the Sony HDR-HC3, but this sounds (and looks) a little more appealing. Really small too!

Anyone seen this? Would love to find a review. Apparently released in September (around $1200 in the USA) ....

This would explain why the MVX4i has disappeared now.

No HDMI? That's a big issue for me, then.

No mic input though - so you can't get decent sound (same problem as the HC3).

    Silly, really.

I cant believe the omisson of a mic input. Whats the point of great sharp video with muddy rubbish sound! Some SLR cameras are sold without a flash sync socket, why? Whats wrong with these designers :lesson:

What I can't believe is the arrogance of Canon UK putting this out at £1299 when it's $1299 in the US. Do they think we are stupid?

You can get the HC3 online for less than £800 and the HC1E for £1099.99.

If this is cost £1299.99 then they ain't going to be competetive.

I haven't seen any UK price published - only the US one. Where did you get that pricing info?

    There's more info here :

    http://www.simplydv.co.uk/newsitems/canon_HV10_news.html

I'm pretty sure I read elsewhere that the UK price was expected to be around £700.

Edit - here's the link : http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/news/Canon-HV10-high-definition-camcorder-unveiled/281515.html which contradicts the price rhubarbe mentioned above, mentioned here : http://lifestyle.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=6392

    That's quite a difference !

It looks like a great camera, but the lack of HDMI output and external mic input are certainly negative points, IMO.

One question I have - if this camcorder has no HDMI output, can it still output a HD picture direct to a HD TV via some other means ?
