Canon G1 not charging, help please.

I have a 2.5 year old G1 that has seen little use. I pulled it out last week to take some pictures. Thinking the battery would be dead I plugged it into the mains and all was well.

After taking some pictures I thought I would charge up the battery but it doesn't seem to be working. The little orange light that comes on when you are charging is not even blinking. The camera doesn't seem to know it has a battery in it at all!

At first I thought it would just need a new battery but now I'm starting to think the charging circuit may be broken. Any suggestions on how I can tell / fix it?

I have a feeling if I take it to a shop for repair the bill will be somewhat large, that is if I can find somewhere to do it! I gave my local Jessops a call and they said they don't do repairs. :( Where can I take my camera to get fixed?

Thanks.

I have had the same problem. The repair place "boosted" the charger output and kickstarted my battery to charge. But when that charge was gone (on a new battery) it would still not recharge. I am going to take it back to the service centre again and see what they can do.
