Any review sites that have actually handled this machine that was recently announced ?
not a proper review but informative nevertheless
Thanks I'll have a look at the article.
This weeks Amateur Photographer have a nice two page spread and pics.
DPreview have posted a review of a pre production model today.
Does look a bargain at the USA prices.
Thanks for the update. Good to see that we are starting to get some hands-on reviews.
How could you buy this from the US though without a massive customs charge?
China / Hong Kong is the place to buy.
Often customs friendly shipping
Not sure that I would import a camera though, lenses no problem, camera has more to go wrong with it, but at around £650-700 imported (rough guess), might be worth the chance.
Thanks for the info Mark.
Has anyone any experience of buying something of this value.
$999 verus £999 is a big incentive !
Seriously considering getting a friend to post me one over from Hong Kong but i think the peace of mind of a UK waranty and all its benefits might persuade me otherwise.
Interesting thing is, what will this mean for prices of new prosumer Cameras such as Fuji S7000 and Nikon equivalents.
The EOS300D is available in the UK for around £730 body only or £819 with the 18-55 lens.
Don't know if it helps anyone
It does help thanks, but where exactly have you seen these prices, any links? and I take it they are excluding VAT?
Don't know anything about them but UK Digital are showing 300D + lens as £819 inc. vat
Yep - that's the one I had in mind.
how about £786? http://www.qed-uk.com/?i=0-raeM2zYlT6&vp=6&bg=265&bp=s300ds&bi=0
Thanks Wilber, this is cheaper than some sites for body only.
Wonder how QED-uk are on delivery and customer service ?
another good review, with a doz or so test pictures.
Looks very tempting at around £840.
I remember my first digital camera, a Kodak DC50 I think it was , 715x512 pixels. for £999 ! We have come a long way in such a short period of time.
some photos done with the camera here.
Dont forget to do the save as, dont just click them.
Anyone know of a website that tells Hong kong prices?
I got a friend going soon who will pick one up if its worth it.
Has anyone bought from Hong Kong?
If so what happens with your warranty?
hong kong price for an official 300D is I think $9000hkd.
The demand is so high, that there are no need to lower the price.
You will get international warranty if you buy a official Canon. If you buy a greyimport, that is, sourced from Japan, you only get Japanese warranty, prices should be a bit less.
Her is a website that has linked all the important digital camera sites and the reviews on eos300D including steves-digicams & imaging-resource etc, they are all almost equally important to read I reckon -
and here is another good picture comparison between several slr's - http://www.a-digital-eye.com
Lastly, Nikon has just announced their Nikon D70, a direct competitor to Eos300D, and dpreview is hinting that it is even better than 300D - http://www.dpreview.com/articles/nikond70
"This also raises another note of interest, the D70 is already looking better than Canon's EOS-300D"
