Sorry, appreciate this is crystal ball gazing.

I have tried googling for 600D price history but only found a graph for New Zealand which showed price fell 75% (from 1200 to 900) in 6 months, but couldn't find anything for the UK.

The NZ example seems a bit extreme and was maybe influenced by exchange rates.

But I've decided on a 650D. I've looked at the 60D and even thought about waiting for the 70D, but at heart I know that I'm a casual snapper and I doubt I would see the benefit of anything more.

I don't use my camera regularly, mostly for events and the next big one for me is December when I go to Australia.

So strictly speaking I could wait till November - it would be an upgrade so it is not as if I'm without a camera at the moment.

So what do you think? Based on past pricing history is it worth waiting till November - or should I buy now because the price is going to be practically the same.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

Thanks, that is just what I was after - useful site.

    Looking at the 600D

    started at £675
    after 3 months was £590
    after 8 months was £540

So at a guess will see the body drop from £699 to £600 or a little less.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

The only thing you can't guard against is possible extreme currency fluctuations.
Not long ago when the pound was dropping like a stone against the yen, prices for a newly launched camera were going up over that sort of timeframe, not falling.

Though it is a bit more stable now. But if the Euro collapses who knows what might happen.

I remember hmming and arring over whether to buy a 70-200mm F2.8 L lens a couple of years back and suddenly the price lept up from something like £1200 to the current £1600

True, but actually I missed the word 'to' out of the sentence.

    Cheers,
