I've noticed reading through reviews on Canon gear on American websites that their Camcorders seem to have different model numbers to ours i.e ZR-85, ZR-90 rather than MV700i etc. Does anyone know where I can find the cross correlation for model numbers so I can see which UK model number they are talking about?

They are not talking about UK models - they are talking about cameras made for the American market which uses the NTSC television system and are not suitable for use in the UK. - the chargers will also be supplied to work on different voltages and usually (unlike European models) the American versions only work on 110V.
