looking to buy a Canon MV830i from pixmania, seems a good deal at £358 and it's the 2005 model.

has anyone ordered a camcorder from pixmania before and was there any problems etc?

I have, i found them to be very good.
Although the camcorder may have a french plug so you'll need an adaptor.

oh god yeah, the manual is in french! I downloaded it off the panasonic website and printed it out, but i did 2 pages to 1 sheet of A4, then the manual is...manual size :D
A small price to pay when you're saving hundreds

That seems quite a good deal, its only £20-£30 more than the 2004 model MV750i. What do people think of the CanonMV700/800 series, Ive heard some negative coments about the noise u get from its tape mechanism.

Not really relevant, but last Christmas I bought a printer from Pixmania and the manual was in Russian!

I bought a canon mvx3i from Pixmania. Manual in English, works great.
I only found it £20 cheaper somewhere else, but I didn't go for that since
Pixmania came with 2 yr. guarantee. Also I bought a 5 yr. guarantee for £80
from them when other places were charging £250 for 5 yr. guarantee!!

Pixmania do have a good reputation from what I hear.

But Don't buy accessories from there, you can find batteries etc. MUCH cheaper elsewhere on the net. I think this is how they bump up the profits
they've lost on the cameras/camcorders. e.g. Canon battery at Pixmania was
£60 & I got one on Amazon exact same Canon brand & model for £28 inc. delivery.

    Good luck,

    Timbo

Pixmania seem to be one of the only places selling the new Canons. Have they officially been released in the UK yet. I would like to hold one in my hands before I order.

Just bought an MV830i from Dabs - £290. Great picture but problem with excessive motor noise recorded onto DV tape. If you want to record someone being interviewed in a quiet room be prepared for what sounds like someone hovering over the microphone using an electric razor, CONSTANTLY.
However, tried same model In local camera shop and it was fine, which could be down to the microphone adjusting its sensitivity to the ambient noise.

Maybe I just bought a dud, (its going back to the retailer for a replacement).

Anyone else found noise problem with this camera?

Thanks for that info I will be a bit weary. I heard somewhere that u should take some ear phones and plug them in to listen to the motor noise when recording, at camcorder shops.
