0.2 second start up time is very impressive, so much better than the 10D, shame that it does not have a 1.3 crop factor though, hopefully if the 3D ever materialises it will be 1.3.

Still the 20D does seem to have amazing spec for the money,

Anybody have experience of how the UK street price and availability of these things are. I have been itching to buy a 10D for a few months but availibility was pretty scarce and then I heard rumours of a replacement and decided to wait.

The rumours I heard was that it was going to be readily available in September (so September 30 then) and be similar price point to the 10D? Past experience tells me that there may be a wait but who are the first dealers / stores to get the new stuff in - high street stores like Jessops or the smaller specialist dealers? How does the Euro price equate to the UK street price?

Lets hope they get their act together this time.

When the 10D first came out and they were in short supply and Jessops had a massive waiting list, my local London Camera Exchange (Lincoln) often seemed to have them in stock, they always sell lower than the RRP, and a quite happy to haggle a bit.

Today they told me the 20D RRP was £1279, they did not have a firm date but were expecting stock around the second week in September, I know if I decide to buy a 20D I will be trying there first.

You made a great decision to wait, I really want to upgrade to the 20D but I'm haveing a hard time justifying the upgrade.

Wow £1279, that is way below what i thought it would cost. An awesome spec for that money, thought it would be around £1500 for sure at the very least.

Just had a quick look on Jessops site and it's there already - £1279.90!! For an extra £70, get the 18-55mm lens. With me having just sold my D30 for £400, I'm going shopping!!! Bargains all around.

    jessops price

    Best regards

In the abscence of the 1.3 factor on the 20D, the new 10-22mm looks tempting. List price of €899 so I guess about £550?? What are the alternatives if I want true wide angle - I already have the Sigma 17-XX EX lens which is okay but I still would prefer wider.

My Sigma SD9 has 1.7 crop and i'm considering the Sigma 12-24, if you get a good one, it's a cracker of a lens, although it's not particularly quick F-stop wise. If you don't quite need the reach, the 15-30 EX tends to be a little bit sharper.
