I've just bought 20D from Jessops but the lens I want wasn't in stock. I think I should try to buy it from 7days, as it seems to be more expensive elsewhere (I really don't want to pay more than 1k for this lens). Any words of caution or advice for me?

There have been at least two 7dayshop threads here already. You need to go back 6 pages to get to the earlier one.

Experiences seem to be good or bad.

I bought a 70-200 F4L from them and it came in good time with no problems. A filter and a couple of other bits turned up a day or so later. Having read the bad experiences I might think twice about using them again - even though my experience was a good one. 7dayshop purchases do not qualify for the current Canon discount vouchers (not that your lens is one with cashback anyway as far as I can see).

On their website it is stated that the lens comes with 1 year international warranty. Is it recognised by Canon in the UK?

And yes, 16-35 is excluded from Canon promotion :( As is 70-200 f2.8, which I want to buy next (may be not soon though)...

There are others here that know more about warranty status. I believe it is OK.

I just looked at the international warranty with my lens. That states it only applies if purchased and used in USA - you can get it repaired in any country you are visiting! Like I said I don't know for sure but I think the warranty is OK despite what it says on the card. Got to be better than a 'return to Hong Kong' ebay sellers warranty.

Best to check out the 7dayshop web site where you will find lots of information, anything else is speculation and be a shame to buy something and then find the facts you read here were wrong. My experiences with them, and there have been many, have been good. I have used their email support system and got a reply after two days that was relevant to what I asked about (an item I ordered that was on back order and I wanted to kinow when stock was expected). Remember, if they're selling super cheap there is always going to be a service and support downside over a top mark up local retail shop outlet. You pay your money and take your choice. With all such operations I just make sure all MY details and the order is 110% correct to minimise any potential problems.

I have bought lots from 7 Day Shop and cannot fault them.

I have also the 16-35mm wide angle you mention.

This is indeed one of the finest lenses in my collection.

I ordered a 70-200L F4 and a 50mm on a Friday from 7dayshop, I got the 70-200 on the Monday and the 50mm a couple of days later without any trouble.

I was a little hesitant about ordering from them but it was OK in the end. I sent off the application for the cashback as it states the lens only has to be purchased in the UK which Guernsey is. I have had a email to confirm the cheque is in the post to me.

Amazing! In that case I'll snip the end of the box for the bar code and give it a go. 7dayshop confirmed to me their lenses are USA sourced and they themselves are not a UK vendor .... but if Canon don't care :D

It will be interesting to see if you actually get the cheque! I applied for the cashback on this lens, which I also bought from 7dayshop, on the 11th of April and the Canon website still says the application is being processed.

My application is all filled out, printed off and ready to go. Just the hope of £70 back is making me smile :D

I asked the direct question of 7dayshop - do your lenses qualify for the Canon cashback scheme and got the answer - No. Hopefully the answer was wrong.

One of those charts on the canon promotions site said 42 days for UK - 7 for post to them and 35 days for them to process it.

The terms on the web site say something about one offer per houshold. The letter with the coupons says apply for as many as you like. I feel a 1.4x extender could be with me soon (assuming they pay out on the f4L)

You go to http://cashbackstatus.com and log in with the email address that you gave on your rebate application form and the reference that they gave you with the acknowledgement, which won't help as you haven't had an acknowledgement.

I sent my application on the 22th of April. They posted the cheque to me on the 20th of May, they advise this may take up to 10 days to reach me. I will let you know if I receive it or not.

I plan on getting the 1.4x and probaly the 420ex flash. I want the cheque in my hand before I order these though !
