got sky hd when it first came out, but now my years ended im completely underwhelmed and am going to cancel it.

ive been a sky customer forabout 6 years, can i expect a few "deals" upon my very genuine threat to cancel?

incidentally, ill still get to use my box asfreeview eh? or "free to view" even..

Out of interest, why are you underwhelmed? I ask as I'm always dead chuffed with mine and just curious if I'm being an idiot/sap or maybe have completely different viewing habits?

I think a lot of people have fallen for the hype Sky pump out about HD. Maybe thats why some people are a little underwhelmed. Dont get me wrong, Im very happy with Sky HD but its very hard to see that HD channels have FOUR times the detail of SD. The only thing I dont understand with people who are looking to cancel is how could they go back to watching SD movies, sport, etc after watching in HD?? I've watched one movie in the past 6 months in SD and it was a pretty painful experience!

Thinking the same. My year is up end of May.

I'm paying £63 for HD and multiroom full package. Multiroom box is in the process of dying and HD box has been replaced once and I have lost the planner contents on multiple occasions.

Tempted to sort out my HD streaming through my xbox and download all the tv series I watch. My only loss will be the football but the game hasn't been the same for years (weakened teams, dodgy loans, no loyalty).

It would give me £756 a year to play with. Now that is tempting!

its because of the amount of content. im not paying the money for the movies as its the same movies over and over again and im scottish, so i dont take much interest in the sports channels as its only english games. unless man u are playing i dont care.

the hd stuff itself is excellent, but theres not enough of it. the most hd i watch is bbc hd...so imlaughing

its just not worth the money

But if the content doesnt interest you, why did you subscribe in the first place?

I was thinking about HD -Stick it or keep it - the other day ( my years up on June 8th), but the thought of watching non HD football, rugby league and cricket is a big no-no.Yes Sky have got me by the short and curlies the buggers!.

no they havent. unless you subscribe to the sports then theres not much point in having hd. being a scottish football fan setantas all thatsgood for me even tho thats not in hd!

and to answer the earlier plonkers question...i got hd because it was new and i wanted to be a show off! fair enough?

I think many of us got caught up in the hype and didnt actually realise how little decent hd content there would be - myself included.

It all boils down to what you're interested in, personally I would pay the £10 just for HD football as I dont think I could go back to SD!

I will be cancelling my HD sub and my sports (till the fottie season starts up again) when my year is up. i may loose the movies to as i now have both
HD DVD and BR so don't really need it. Should drop my bill down to half what it is now. and we are moving soon so i can get it all sorted at the new place.

I would probably get rid of Sky Sports if I had an incentive as there is no decent sports on it I'm interested in (I'm a Scottish Football and Horse racing fan).

The problem is I want the movie channels and Sky have delibrately made their packages so that it's only slightly more expensive to have movies and sports together rather than movies on their own.

I will be dropping HD in October when my year's up. Only have Sky Sports (no movies) of any note for me, and even then on a 32" LCD at normal viewing distance, the difference between HD and SD becomes nominal, and certainly not worth £10 a month for me, on top of multiroom, and Prem Plus subscription etc.

*BTW. I got Sky HD on a staff offer, offering 12 months free sub, and the box for £99. So I haven't lost out this year, have experienced it, and decided it won't give me £10 value for money as next year i'll have to start paying the £10 sub *

Do you think that the ones aren't impressed with HD or don't see much difference have either too small a tv, viewing distance is too far away or their tv just isn't good enough. For me skyHD isn't worth the extra £10 unless viewing on at least a 42" screen

HD probably not even worth 10 quid a month for me.

Problem is I paid all this dough for an all singing all dancing HD box and I don't feel like giving up on HD altogether - especially since I can't get the BBCHD free channel here in Malta :(

    You could be right Robbie!

I don't want a massive TV thats going to drown my front room, 32" is about the biggest I could get away with, 42" would be way too big, and if HD looks similar to SD (for footie anyway) from 8ft away then no point spending extra on the HD sub.

I do sit a foot or two closer when on the PS3 ;)

Ive just had a hard time cancelling my HD. I said to the lady i want to dump my HD, sky +, movies and sports and go down to digital sky multi channel package. She said my HD contract runs till 23rd May,i said ok then reduce my channel options to a minimum. Im only on sky one now but because ive changed my viewing options she said i cant make another change for 30 days, so now i cant cancel my HD sub till 11th june, and whats ****** is if you make a change to your channels they take them off air immediately even if you have paid for this month.

Im cancelling everything this evening now.

Interesting how many people are not only cancelling hd but also their sky package.i will also be doing this next month.

sky have no main rival so take the mick with their pricing structures.im looking fwd to when sky+ become free which is in july apparently.i have 2 sky+ boxes on full package and when i tried to drop my package last year it would actually cost me more due to the 2 x £10 sky+ subs - ridiculous.
