In the process of cancelling Sky as the price increases are becoming a bit of a task to pay. Looking at both the older Foxsat HDR that seems a decent machine, or do I go down the brand new model route with the 1100S 1TB? I want a straight swap from sky box to Humax, so optical out is something I need for my Onyko system. Advice would be great from all you experts on here coming from a complete novice! Thanks in advance.

All depends on your requirements I suppose.
If you require on demand catchup/YouTube/Curzon and whatever other on demand content may appear in the future then go with the 1100s, otherwise maybe the Foxsat is better suited.

What advantages does the Foxsat have over the newer 1100s in terms of capabilities?

Also looking at the differences between the 1010s & 1100s the 1010s 1TB can be purchased for £189, the same price as the newer 1100s 500gb. Are there any huge differences apart from size and scart connection? Many thanks.

1000s, 1010s & 1100s are all pretty much the same UI wise. The only difference between them are connectivity related and the 1100s doesn't have a display on the box facia.

Would you be tempted with the 1010s over the 1100s for the £30 saving?

For me personally I'd probably go for the 1100s purely down to colour preference alone as the 1010s only comes in white.

Thanks for the input. Are the 2TB boxes only purchased directly through Humax Direct? I suppose it's good to go down the new route I suppose.

I have a FoxSat HDR and have just updated to a new 1100S.
The new one is much snappier in it's operation and has a much more "modern" GUI.
Plus it's footprint is a lot (lot) smaller so it looks a bit neater under the telly.
I went for the white one as the black one wasn't available at launch.
Early days yet but very happy. Picture quality is superb and the wife is happy....so therefore my life is bliss.

I have ended up with the 1010s 1TB coming from sky and trying to remember the Freesat channel numbers is a bit of a pain, but I will get used to it! I do like the front panel and the clock in Standby Mode. The box is simple to set up no issues there, just having to flick from STB to TV to control my home cinema but it's no big issue.
