Cancelling AOL email address?!

Distinguished Member
Hi chaps

I've had my AOL email address hacked over night (I think)..... I've had about 45 'Returned mail - see transcript for details' emails from emails I've supposedly sent over night.

I've signed into AOL via Safari and changed my password, but these 'Returned Mail' are still coming through. Is there any way at all to just close down the email account?

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it

Thanks

You will probally need to contact AOL to disable it. Are these returns for emails that have already been sent though, is it possible that you have stopped them being sent and are just seeing the fallout ?

I've emailed AOL about it

Yeah, these are returns for the email that has been sent. My mate received one and it was apparently a URL with nothing else. I still seem to get 10 'Returned mail' or so every hour though

Your account may not have been hacked, someone may be spoofing your email address and sending out spam.

It happened to my Dad a few years ago (not on Aol); he got hundreds of emails for a few day, then it settled down.
