Can you use the speakers in the 42PX600 or 427XD as a centre?

As per title really, I am looking to upgrade to either the Panny or Pioneer 42"ers soon and would like to know if it is possible to use the screens speakers as the centre speaker?
I can't afford to upgrade my surround sound just yet and also don't want to add a centre speaker as this will ruin the look of the living room having a centre bolted to the wall above or below the screen.
My current amp (Sony) allows me to send an output to the TV speakers to use it as the centre. I like this feature as the centre sound is linked directly to the screen.

i should imagine you probably could...you'd need an av amp with preouts and send the centre channel preout, via a 'Y' lead (i.e. one male RCA to 2 male RCA's) into the audio in of the plasma.

Whether it would tonally match the other speakers in your setup is a different matter of course ;)
