I thought SKY said I can watch one chaneal and record two other different chaneals but my brother does not believe you can do this.
Is he right or can you record two different chaneals?

With SKY+ you can record two channels and watch a previous recording streamed off the hard drive.
SKY's promotion refers to creating your own TV channel, perhaps that is where the misunderstanding is.

You can only watch another TV programme if you a recording 1 other channel.
If you are recording 2 channels you can only watch 1 of the ones you are recording or a programme you have previously recorded.

What does the box do if I try to watch another programme while recording 2 others? Will it stop recording one of them (which one?) or will it restrict me to selecting only those channels that I am recording?

    Cheers

A warning graphic should appear on screen informing you of what is currently being recorded on the two tuners and asking which you want to cancel so you can use that tuner for viewing another channel.

    No, that's never been offered.

It's only got 2 tuners. If both are being used, there's no way you can view a third.

The compromise is either watching one of the ones recording or watching something off your hdd, which is still quite impressive.

MY MISTAKE :) i was getting confused between watching another channel and watching a pre recorded programme. We were beginning to think it would never happen – but apparently the upgrade allowing you to record two things simultaneously while also watching a previously recorded programme on Sky+ really is finally ready. Hallelujah. In fact, the upgrade should have already downloaded to your Sky+ box
