    Silly question really.

But having just bought a DAT75 aerial (which is great, but that is another story), I (and more to the point my neighbours) find it large and obtrusive,. As it is mounted on a pole down the end of the garden amongst some trees, I was wondering whether one can paint an aerial without impairing reception.

Any thoughts or even experience ?

Sure, no problem. Paint it grey to match the sky or green to match the leaves. It won't affect its operation one jot.

Er no - Guildford. And its a DAT75. Painted it black, the neighbours are happy, and it still works.
