I found this ad in RicherSounds catalogue in this months what Hi-fi and it looks like a great deal. It contains the Bi-polar Ht-2's which alone cost £80. The problem is I'm not sure what the other three speakers are. The package isn't on Eltax's site or on RS's. I emailed RS yesterday and the reply I got said he wasn't sure and I should ask Eltax  (which I will do). So any idea what they are?

I currently have two Eltax Monitor 3's and a Sony speaker package consisting of a centre and two rears. I'd replace the sony package with the Eltax centre and the Ht2 rears then use the other two Eltax's (which look smaller than my Monitor 3's) on my B terminal over this side of the room to give a proper stereo image when sat at my comp (these would be switched off when using the other 5.) I'm fairly tight on space, are there any special requirements for the Bi-polars in terms of positioning, and do they have any way of wall attachment built onto them? (my sony's have a little hook type thingy.)

    Thanks!

They look like the old Millenium stand mounters which are the predecesors to this model .

Bought a set last week for my second room. Don't sound bad!

Rears have a little keyhole type thingy for wall mounting.

Just ordered a set, cost me £92 -ish after delivery and 8m of cable (I already have most of what I need).

Now I've just got to work out where to position the rears

Oh yeah, and who wants a Sony SSCR290 3 speaker package, come on, I know you'll all be fighting over this one

Was it the HT2 rears which came? The Millenium Movie Box they have advertised on the web site doesn't include these??

    [EDIT]
Just rang and found out that they say the HT2s don't come with this package. He said the advert indicated that they did but it was cheaper ones which they ship?!??

I've not got it yet but yes it does come with HT-2's.
This was what confused me but I checked with RS and it does come with them. I also managed to find the same set in a catalogue from a month or 2 ago, its usual price being £199.99!!
If you want a set you have till monday, unless they extend it the What Hi-fi offers are only valid till the 5th.

I got my package a few hours ago.
Since reading your last edit I've just checked and although the box calls them Millennium Bipolars (Centre is Millennium centre and fronts are Millennium 100's) they have the exact same dimensions and the same specs as HT2's. According to Eltax's website there is no such thing as a Millenium Bipolar. This would leave me to believe they are repackaged HT2's specially for this pack.
Could someone with HT2's give me the item and serial number off the back?

If they aren't HT2's I might send them back, and possibly a complaint to the ASA is in order. They clearly state in the ad that the package contains HT2's.

BTW today is the last day for this offer, they'll be back up to £199.99 tomorrow!

My HT2s should arrive tomorrow so I will let you know then. The guy at RS I talked to however said that they weren't as well made. Sorry to be the bearer of (possibly) bad tidings?

I later realised every speaker in the package has the same serial and item number so thats no way to tell. Whoops!
I'm gonna contact Eltax directly and see what they've got to say on the matter.
I've not had chance to test the speakers properly (they aren't up on the wall yet) but I'm almost certain they'll be an improvement over the Sony's, so even if they aren't HT2's its not the end of the world. Having said that its the principle that matters, I bought the product (as I'm sure many others did) because it was advertised as containing HT2's. Even tho I did save £130 its no excuse for lying.

Wow, that was a fast response from Eltax, just over 20mins. I'd normally expect to wait days.

Anyway this is what they said:

    Hi,

Congratulations on your choice of Eltax speakers

The rears are rebadged HT-2 bipolar. Normal price £149.95

Good news indeed, sounds like the bloke I spoke to at RS was talking rubbish.

Out of interest how much more was the postage on your set?

I think it was 5 quid on my HT2s

I got 8m of cable - £8 and postage was £15. But it is a fairly big box and does weigh 23.5Kg so its understandable.
I think the general rule with RS is £10 for the first box then £5 for every box after that. But if the first is only small then that'll only be £5, and if any of them are huge and heavy then £15/£20.
