Can you help me with my HDMI set up?

I have a Panasonic TH37 PV500 HD Plasma and just got a home cinema system, Panasonic SC-PT550EB-K. I have connected the two by HDMI cable and the manual says that the TV volume should now be able to control the home cinema volume. I think I've set all the preferences correctly, but the volume on the tv remains independant of the home cinema unit.

Any thoughts? Does anyone know if this should work as I think it should?

Hope you can help.

Most TV's do not have an "HDMI-out" and only a "Stereo output" (R+L or the White & Red coaxials). If you use the TV's stereo-out then set your receiver to output it as Dolby Prologic II or DTS-es or something similar, it will simulate a 5.1/6.1 to make use of the centre, rear and subwoofers.

Hello Bookbuilder

Consumer Electronic Control (CEC) or Viera Link (as Panasonic call it) is the functionality your talking about.

For it to work correctly both the Source and Display need to be CEC enabled; you'll need to confirm with Panasonic GB.
