Can you connect small surround speakers directly to the Panasonic DMP-BD85 without the need for an AV?

Basically turning it into an all in one box home cinema kit without the need for AV or the additional cost of actually buying a dedicated Panasonic all in one.

Cheers :D

The BD85 is a Blu-ray player and, as such, the Audio output from the machine will be at line level only and needs amplification, so no, your idea won't work.

Cheers,

Martin.

Thank you for your quick reply Martin :smashin: Shame about the connectivity :(

What about active speakers?
Like the 5.1 computer setups.
Could they not amplify the BD85 5.1 analog phono outs?
Don't know, just asking.

Yes, I would reckon that would work, but it's not what the OP asked about.
You sure?
The (auto generated?) link in his first post is to surround speakers on ebay.
The first one listed is SWEEX 5.1 SURROUND SOUND SUB WOOFER SPEAKER
21Wrms total power output.

I never even opened the link because, as you point out, it is auto-generated. One thing I will say is that I'm not a fan of these auto-generated links although I have no doubt they are income generators for the forums and, as such, will be here to stay.

Having said that, I very much doubt that the OP opened it either but, if he reads this now, thanks to you, he will see that he does have that option.

Cheers,

Martin.
