Can the Xbox One play Hi Res audio?

Can the Xbox One play Hi Resolution audio through Usb or even pass it through to a receiver for decoding?

Probably not... but Kodi is available for Xbox One via the store, it can read USB drives, supports hires formats & can output audio as uncompressed PCM 2.0-7.1 via HDMI.

However because it is a UWP app it may not be able to output audio that goes beyond the CD quality standards under control of the Xbox OS, not sure personally never tested any of that out.

If your going to try it, you must set Xbox in system settings to uncompressed PCM output then in Kodi settings change system->audio->number of channels to match whatever you selected in Xbox settings.
