    Hi,

I recently got the Teac CR-H250 which I'm using with my very old Diamond 4s.

I'm thinking of upgrading the speakers to the latest Wharfedale Diamonds but I'm not sure the Teac will have enough power to drive it.

The 9.0 and 9.1 have the same nominal impedance and sensitivity:

    Nominal Impedance: 6ohm
    Sensitivity 1W @ 1m: 86dB

Will the TEAC be able to drive them?

Also, does that mean that it doesnt matter which one I get, if the Teac can drive the 9.0 it will be able to drive the 9.1?

Is it worth paying extra for the 9.1? Will I hear any difference from the TEAC?

    Any advice appreciated....

I'm using mine with an old set of Mission 700.
    According to this http://www.mission.co.uk/archive/700series/700_series.pdf
    Recommended amplifer 25-75W
    Sensitivity (SPL/M @2.83V) 87dB
    Impedance 8 ohm

I'm generally listening to CD between 18 and 24 with DAB between 16 and 22.
I haven't turned it up beyond 28 but that was pretty loud.

I can't see why it shouldn't be able to drive those Whafedales unless I've missed something in the way the dB ratings are calculated.

    Thanks for your reply.

The thing that worries me is that the Wharfedale's nominal impdeance is only 6 ohms.

Sensitivity is also a bit on the low side. I dont know if sensitivity of 1 or 2 dB will make that much of a difference.

Anyone out there with a TEAC driving a 6 ohm load?

    Cheers,

    Kevin
