The Velodyne CHT-10 will be sitting next to my TV soon (thanks to Uncle Eric!). But I was wondering if this was a good idea?

I was hoping the XBOX could live on the top of the sub, but maybe the vibrations would cause the hard disk heads to crash, or something!!?

Also, while we're on the subject, what about the proximity of the sub to the TV? Should I be as concerned as I doubt the sub is sheilded!!

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

    L.

the sub isn`t shielded so wouldn`t have it right beside the telly.
having said that when i first had my cht-10 i had it about 18 inches from the telly and didn`t notice any magnetic interference on the picture.
as for putting your xbox on top, i would have thought it was a bad idea:)

Not a good idea to put an Xbox on top of a sub!

:nono: Not a good idea to put anything vaguely electronic on top of it. It'll probably do quite a decent job of wiping video and audio cassettes as well!
Scramble the mobile phone sim card??? Perhaps it's not all bad news then! :rotfl:

I use my Yamaha YST-SW800 a bit as a table, but only for some books and a keyboard. It is situated as a side table for my computer corner. Very neat!

I wouldn't like to say No sub is sheilded, but most arn't.

However ... it's never done any of the cuddly toys that have lived atop my sub any harm ...

    From the Velodyne website:
ALL CHT SERIES SPEAKERS: Video shielding - Video shielding prevents the CHT Series speakers from causing changes in picture quality on near-by TV monitors.

    Oyy Vikki.

    Don't call them fluffies.

    They are fabric based lifeforms.

Cheers. I've just looked in the owner's guide and as is typical of Mission, it doesn't state either way  It doesn't say anything in the specs sheet I downloaded from their Web site either  Well it doesn't seem to be affecting the TV where it is, so whether it is or isn't shielded I guess doesn't matter ... unless I decide to move it :D But, probably the fact it doesn't mention anything suggests that it isn't shielded....

apologies if i have given out wrong information.
yeah i read that off the velodyne website before purchasing the cht-10, but i`m sure someone told me that the sub isn`t magnetically shielded.
anyway, i`ve asked uncle eric for his input so will let you know when he comes back to me:)
