Found this hanging on the side of my house yesterday morning. It was about 4 inches long from head to tip of wing. Just wondering if anyone knows what it is.

I thought it was. I remember someone telling me years ago that a similar sort of shell was that of a dragonfly but it's the first time i've seen a "new born" one.
It's kinda cute though, don't you think?

I'm sure that if the wings are pointing up from the body when at rest then it's a damselfly, a dragonfly always rests with it's wings spread out.

Got 'em as big as lancaster bombers round our way.

The kids fire their water pistols at them as they swoop around the garden...PJ :D

I think that it had only just broken out of it's shell and was drying out. I've rotated the picture from the original vertical shot. The wings were actually pointing downwards and their only movement was when the breeze caught them. I had only just come off night shift so went to bed after taking the photo. When I got up it had gone but the shell is still there. I hope a bird didn't get it
